Chocolate Velvet is owned and operated by Phil and Leanne Lash, and with the help of our experienced cake baker and decorator Anita, we gain much pleasure in creating wedding cakes, birthday cakes, and desserts for our customers.
Chocolate Velvet was born in 2004 from the desire of Phil to create a business that solely produced top quality cakes and desserts for the Nelson area.
Phil has an extensive career in baking, as well as working as a patisserie overseas and in New Zealand.
We started off our business working out of a fully registered commercial kitchen situated on our property. After two years we had well and truly outgrown these premises, and spent the next year looking for suitable premises to move to.
In December 2007 we finally moved to 435 Nayland Road, having built a large bakery with a retail shop in the front.
Phil is very happy to have a large bakery to be creative in, and Leanne is even happier to have her house and property back!
We are open from 7am to 5pm Monday to Friday, and 8am to 1pm on Saturday. Closed on Sunday.
